Standing on the top of the mountains, one has a splendid view of the pleasant valleys with the surrounding mountain ranges in the background, through the middle of which the Kabul River winds its way. The city of Kabul is built on both sides of this river, and is about 8 miles in circumferen-ce. The city in the course of its growth has extended towards the north of the ri-ver and has reached Siasang Kotal-e Yaklinga, Posteen-Dozha, the cement fac-tory and the cantonment on the east, Pul-i Sokhta on the west, on the North upto Shaher-e-Aara, Deh-Kupak, Bibi-Mehro, Khwaja Rawash, the military hospital and Yakatoot, and on the South as Sho-hadai-Swaliheen and Qilai-Hashmat Khan.
