spirit of brotherly comradeship has been
created among them and there is far great
cohesion amongst them than had ever been
achieved before.
Education.—Side by side with the
development of the army, the King devotes
much of his attention to the education of his
countrymen. He considers that the true
happiness of his people can only be achieved
through education and peace. He himslef
is a man of great learning and is a great
linguist, commanding considerable fluency in فصاحت
six languages. Though the major portion of his
life has been spent in the army and diplomatic
service, he does not lack the genius of a great
man of letters.
One of his first acts after taking Kabul
was the re-opening of schools and colleges,
and each year witnesses the establishment
of new educational institutions. One of the
latest is the Faculty of Medicine (the first
medical college of the country), where the
