vii had witnessed the state of things during 1928 and 1929 would hardly believe that such a great measure of progress was possible in the brief interval. He will find that a new Afghanistan has risen from the ashes of the revolution. It has a Government which is animated by high ideals; it is ruled by a constitutional مشروطه monarch who is at once an experienced soldier and a great statesman, and it holds out the promise of great development and prosperity.
