He emphasiz- ed the fact that within the short period of Saqao's rule Afghanistan had been nearly ruined; her trade was crippled, her credit dead and her prestige gone. She was on the بسیار نزدیک brink of complete annihilation and nothing but a united effort could save them. It was here that General Shah Mahmud Khan got the happy news of his brothers' arrival in India. He was impatient to meet them and to know of the health of Marshal Nadir Khan. He, therefore, left for India, but he had not to go very far. In Parachinar, he met his brothers. The three had a long talk wherein the General gave all the details of the revolution, with its attendant horrors. Needless to say, the sad story of Afghanistan's pitiable plight was a long and a sorrowful one and the Marshal's eyes grew dim as one by one the terrible implications of the situation were unfolded before him. 87
