Shah Shuja then prepared an expedition to reduce Kashmir, where Abdulla Khan had declared his independence. The force encountered innumerable hazards on its way due to the difficult nature of the country and the shortage of food. A second attempt was, however, successful. Meanwhile, Vazier Fateh Khan was active in Kandahar. He once again incited Kamran, Mahmud's son, to bid for the throne. Kamran had no hesitation in following his advice. Joining the Vazier, he marched on Kandahar. Kaisar, taking to his heels, sought refuge in Baluchistan. This news brought Shujaul Mulk once more to Kandahar. He had no difficulty in entering the city, as Kamran's forces melted away on his approach.
