His Majesty King Mohammed Zahir Shah was born in Kabul on October 15, 1914. Studied first at Habibia and Istiqlal Schools, Kabul. In July 1924 proceeded to France for higher education and studied at the following institutions: Jeanson de Sally College Pasteur College Montpellier School In 1930 His Majesty returned to Afghanistan and underwent military training in Kabul. During the reign of his father was appointed acting minister of the Ministry of National Defence and the Ministry of Education. The last post he held until the martyrdom of his father on November 8, 1933.
