قَالَ عَبِيدَةُ السَّلْمَانِي لِعَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللهُ
تَعَالَى عَنْهُ يَا اَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ مَا بَالُ
اَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ اِنْطَاعَ النَّاسُ لَهُمَا
وَالدُّنْيَا عَلَيْهِمَا أَضْيَقُ مِنْ شِبْرٍ فَاتَّسَعَتْ
عَلَيْهِمَا وَوَلِيْتَ اَنْتَ وَعُثْمَانُ الْخِلَافَةَ
وَلَمْ يَنْطَاعُوا لَكُمَا وَالدُّنْيَا قَدِاتَّسَعَتْ
فَصَارَتْ عَلَيْكُمَا اَضْيَقُ مِنْ شِبْرٍ فَقَالَ
لِأَنَّ رَعِيَّةَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ كَانُوا مِثْلِي
