After that he journeyed to-\nwards Mahal Marouf. When, however, the illness of Ahmed Shah\ntook a dangerous turn, Prince Timour intended to come to see his\nfather at Kandahar, but when he arrived a place called Washair,\nwhich lies on the way to Kandahar in the Helmand area, he received\ninstructions to return to Herat. The return of this Prince from so\nclose a proximity of Kandahar is a very delicate matter to judge,\nfor it is a fact which reflects upon the activities of Vazir Shah Wali\nKhan and the raising to the throne of his son-in law Sulaiman, and\nexplains the motive behind the order not to proceed further than the\nabove mentioned point. As the king was very ill, it is conjectured\nthat the prohibitory order was issued by the Vazir on behalf of the\nking.
