Representatives of\nevery Member State attending this Con-\nference are required to submit a report\nof the educational progress in their\ncountries during the past two years.\n\nAsia Foundation :\n\nThe Asia Foundation is a non govern-\nmental organisation with its headquarters\nat San Francisco, in the United States\nof America. It has thirteen branches in\ndifferent Asian countries. The Kabul\nBranch of the Foundation was opened\nin 1954 and since then it has assisted\nthe Ministry of Education and a number\nof other Ministries. The Foundation\nprovided two experts on Physical Educa-\ntion to the Ministry of Education last\nyear; a microfilm-reader was also\nprovided for the Library of the Faculties\nof Science, and Engineering and Agri-\nculture. Two thousand books were also\npresented by the Foundation to the\nUniversity of Kabul.\n\n5—Conferences and Seminars:\n\nIn 1958 the Ministry of Education sent\ndelegates to the following conferences,\nseminars and international gatherings:—\n\n(i) The International Conference on\nEducation at Geneva.\n\n(ii) Seminar on Audio-Visual Aids to\nInstruction at New Delhi.\n\n(iii) Regional Seminar on the Develop-\nment and Improvement of\nEducation at New Delhi.\n\n(iv) Study of the Preparation of Text-\nbooks and Teaching Materials;\nJapan, Philippines, Thailand,\nIndia and Pakistan.\n\nKindergarten children rehearsing for an\nexhibition\n\n4—International Bureau of Educa-\ntion :\n\nThe Ministry of Education has been in\ncontact with this organisation during the\npast few years.
