The mobile cinema unit of the\nMinistry showed a number of films on\npublic health which were seen by over\n40,000 people in Bibi Mahro, Logar, and\nNangarhar. The radio health programme\nwas continued and improved and local\nnewspapers published articles on certain\nhealth topics prepared by the Department\nof Publications. The monthly\n\"Roghtya\" was also improved and now\ndeals exclusively with curative medicine.\nBesides the publication of posters and\nsupplements on special occasions such\nas \"Children's Day\", \"Health Day\" and\n\"Red Crescent Week\" the Department\nof Publications opened a library for the\ngeneral public to study books on health\nand hygeine.\n\nThe Department of X-rays and\nLaboratories opened X-ray centres in\nMaimana, Ghazni, Parwan, Mazarisharif\nand Khost.\n\nThe Department of Dentistry imported\nequipment for a dental clinic in Kabul,\nopened a clinic in Maimana and others in\nother provinces will soon be opened.\nMore students graduated from the School\nof Dentistry and began work in various\nprovinces.\n\nThe Department of International\nRelations made arrangements for the\nfollowing officials of the Ministry of\n\nPublic Health to represent Afghanistan\nat international meetings and conferences:\nDr. M. A. Fakiri, Director of the\nCentral Health Bureau, led the Afghan\ndelegation to the 12th Regional Confer-\nence of the W.H.O. in South East Asia\nwhich was convened in Ceylon; Dr. A. G.\nAfzal, Director General of Health Affairs\nwent to the French Industrial Exhibition\nin Teheran to make a study of the new\nmedical instruments exhibited on the\nthe invitation of the French Government;\nDr. A. Rahim, Deputy Minister of Public\nHealth represented Afghanistan in the\n25th Executive Council of the W.H.O. in\nGeneva; and finally Dr. A. G. Afzal and\nDr. Fakiri participated in the 13th\nGeneral Assembly of the World Health\nOrganization in Geneva.\n\nAlso arrangements were made by the\nDepartment of International Relations for\na number of high ranking W.H.O. officials\nincluding Dr. Mani, the Regional Director\nfor South East Asia, to visit Afghanistan\nand advise local authorities on relevant\nmatters.\n\nThe Ministry of Public Health sent the\nfollowing doctors abroad during the\nfourth year of the plan to further their\nstudies in the following fields:\n\nDr. S. M. Sayedi to study epidemiology\nin the United States, Dr. M. Azam to\nstudy malarialogy in Lebanon, Dr. A. G.\nSafi to study clinical sciene in Britain, Dr.\nG. R. Hoshmand to study entomology in\nthe Phillipines, Dr. A. G. Ahmadi to study\nsanitation in Lebanon, Dr. M. A.\nMujaddedi and Dr. M. Azam to study\nBacteriology in France, Dr. M. Isa and Dr.\nM. Karim Husseini to study malarialogy\nin India under the fellowships granted by\nthe W.H.O. Also Dr. M. S. Tawfik and\nDr. M. Ali both X-ray experts, Dr. H. A.\nShifa, and Dr. M.
