The publication of this book\nmight, therefore, seem superfluous. But I\nbelieve the demand for a book containing\nfacts as witnessed by a disinterested party\nhas not yet been met. To the outside world\nthe revolution might appear merely as an\nتعصب outburst of Afghan fanaticism and lust for\nwar and the result of Afghan conservatism\nresisting Western conceptions of culture and\nadvancement. But a careful study of the\nhistory of the past few years shows without\ndoubt that the revolution was the natural\noutcome of a deep-rooted discontent born of\nmaladministration and corruption.\n\nMy object in writing this book is to show\nhow the famished and bankrupt Afghan nation\nwas rescued from utter ruin and annihilation فنا تباهی\nand brought once more on to the path of\nprogress.
